The clients wanted the hearth to be the center of family gathering and activity – both inside and out. Therefore a massive dual face stone fireplace anchors the design and provides for intimate gathering within the Great Room and off the oversized deck. The real inspiration for the design was the commanding waterfront view towards Orcas Island. Fortunately the vista was expansive enough that wrap around windows and sliding doors were able to capture the dramatic view while preserving the hearth as the room’s focal point.
